Excited to announce the streaming release of a new song in conjunction with the re-issues of my 4 solo albums on vinyl. ‘Suitcase in Berlin’ is a translation and reworking of Marlene Dietrich's ode to the lure of Berlin and an updated take on the classic 'Ich Hab' Noch Einen Koffer in Berlin’. Hopefully I will have a proper video to go with it in the next couple of weeks.
The solo albums ‘One Man’s Treasure’ and ‘Two of Diamonds’ are being released together in a double album package on gold and red vinyl respectively. For ‘Two of Diamonds’ it is the first time the material has been available on vinyl. ‘Sketches from the Book of the Dead’ is also available on gold vinyl and ‘FOUR (Acts of Love)’ on silver.
In late October and November Mick and J.P. Shilo will present their joint show which was last delivered on an extensive tour of Europe in late 2019. Plans to take the show around Australia were knocked on the head by the pandemic and now, more than 3 years later, they are back to present a show of J.P. Shilo’s ‘Invisible You’ with Mick Harvey presenting predominantly new songs from 2 albums which are in production. One of these albums being a duets project featuring Mexican singer Amanda Acevedo who will be joining Harvey and Shilo for a large chunk of the former’s set augmented by a string quartet and a small band.

The last couple of years have been disjointed and difficult to navigate at times for almost everyone. I have been working away in seclusion, only occasionally emerging to play rare shows in between Melbourne lockdowns. But now, with European summer approaching, I am booked to play two very special events in late Spring on my first trip to Europe in 2 and half years.
During 2020 and 2021 I have had several projects in development and this year have begun focussing on 2 in particular - a new solo album and an album of duets with Mexican singer Amanda Acevedo. As with many new collaborations during the last couple of years, I began exchanging ideas with Amanda through the internet. The prospect of our enjoyable collaborations becoming something more substantial only really emerged In mid-2021. Amanda had been an enthusiastic fan of mine and someone with whom I had been in contact for a few years. The sharing of musical ideas, when it began, was both cautious and uncertain but, as the work continued to grow in magnitude, a deep respect and mutual admiration has grown from these unlikely beginnings.
Amanda will join me along with J.P. Shilo and a string quartet at my upcoming shows in Norway and the Netherlands. The intention is to test a lot of the new material and a new general presentation including many of the songs from the two albums still in production -

I have also resumed work on a collaboration with Mick Turner (The Dirty 3), Adalita (Magic Dirt) and Marty Brown (The Art of Fighting) which began 4 or 5 years ago. All 4 members have contributed music and lyrics to the project with Adalita being the principle singer. The ensemble is, as yet, without a name or a finished album.
Release dates are as yet undetermined for any of these 3 albums.
It has been a long (or short?) two years but I have been working on a couple of albums and hopefully they will be completed in the second half of the year. More details to follow once I know what to say about them for public consumption and have some idea when they might be released.
There are two shows confirmed for Europe - 11th. June in Moss, Norway and the 17th. June in Den Haag at the Grauzone Festival. At both I hope to be performing (with a string quartet and a couple of guests) a selection of songs from my solo albums and to include a large number of unreleased songs from the upcoming albums. More details on THAT when I know what I am talking about or am allowed to reveal such information.
I am also thrilled to be able to include Anita Lane’s album ‘Sex O’Clock’ in my mail order (Australia only) The album is available for the first time on vinyl through Mute in the UK 20 years after its original release and sadly within 12 months of Anita’s passing. I’m thrilled to see the album available but, to be honest, every mention of it is accompanied by mixed feelings.
